When Shame loses it's power
Shame can be paralyzing. It doesn't say, "I made a mistake."
It whispers, "I am the mistake."
Shame makes us withdraw and hide because shame thrives in hiding.
But the moment we can pause, recognize it, and say, "Wait, this is shame," something begins to change.
Instead of being consumed by it, we become curious.
Why am I ashamed?
Awareness gives us a choice about what we do next.
We can take responsibility without destroying ourselves.
We can acknowledge what we've done without allowing it to define who we are.
So don't run from shame, pause, recognize it and get curious.
You can own what you've done without letting it define who you are.
And sometimes, the moment shame loses its power is the moment we stop hiding from it.
